Sleep Apnea and Snoring Statistics
Over twenty-eight million people in the United States have sleep apnea with only approximately six million people being officially diagnosed. This equates to around 2 to 5 percent of women and 3 to 7 percent of men in America being affected by this sleep disorder. Although more common for men, sleep apnea and snoring can also affect women. Nearly 45 percent of Americans (around 90 million) sporadically snore while an estimated 25 percent (about 37 million) are frequent loud snorers. Aspects such as being middle-aged or older and being overweight are common risk factors for loud snoring and sleep apnea.

Sleep Apnea and Snoring Laser Treatment Services
The San Diego Varicose Vein Treatment Center offers laser therapy treatments using NightLase® Fotona technology for patients seeking relief from snoring and sleep apnea. This patient-friendly procedure is safe and has a high success rate in positively improving sleep patterns without chemicals or the need for devices to be worn while sleeping. NightLase® uses Fotona’s innovative laser pulses to contract the soft tissue lining the inside of the mouth (also known as oral mucosa tissue) to help reduce loud snoring and lessen the effects of sleep apnea in a non-invasive way. The snoring and sleep apnea treatments are broken up into three sessions over the course of six weeks. The effects of the procedure last for approximately a year and can be repeated for continued results. Visit our Snoring and Sleep Apnea Laser Therapy page for more detailed information.
